Nobody Was Watching

How founders run autonomous growth systems without harming strangers, their brand or themselves

Author review Catalogue

About this work

The book's case is Tapstall, a shop-link service for informal merchants. On the day of its audit, its test suite passed in full while its growth pipeline was emailing non-prospects, posting into another venture's social account and running duplicate copies of itself. Each chapter sets out a question, the theory, the case, a framework, the limits of the evidence, points of debate, discussion questions and an exercise. The frameworks include the witness map, the Identity Ledger, the Clock Register, the Recipient Gate, the Stoppability Standard, armed distribution and a ninety-day programme. It is the companion to Working Paper 2026-03. The case is a single pre-revenue venture, and its frameworks are offered for testing.

Case disclosure

Tapstall belongs to the same owner who commissions the work of Jacaranda Labs Think Tank. The audit and rebuild were carried out by the owner working with AI coding agents. It is a bounded case, not an independent evaluation.
